Meet Joe Tait

Motocross has been a part of Joe Tait’s life for over 20 years. What started as a passion for riding eventually turned into a professional racing career and, later, a way to help other riders improve through Smokin Joe’s Speed & Style MX School.

Joe started coaching riders in 2019 with one goal in mind: keep training straightforward, useful, and focused on real improvement. No fluff. No ego. Just solid coaching from someone who still lives and breathes the sport every day.

Today, Joe continues competing at a high level while coaching riders of all ages and experience levels throughout the Northeast.

Still Racing. Still Learning. Still Coaching.

One of the biggest advantages riders get at Smokin Joe’s Speed & Style MX School is learning from someone who’s still actively racing and training.

Joe isn’t teaching from old memories or outdated techniques. He’s out riding, racing, training, and constantly working to improve himself too. That matters because motocross is always evolving, and riders benefit from coaching that reflects what actually works on today’s tracks.

Over the years, Joe has competed at some of the sport’s highest levels and built a reputation for being consistent, hardworking, approachable, and serious about the sport without taking himself too seriously.

Racing Accomplishments

Joe’s experience on the bike speaks for itself.

Some of his accomplishments include:

  • Three consecutive NESC Championships (2023–2025)
  • 2023, 2024 & 2025 NESC 250 Pro & 450 Pro Overall Champion
  • 2018 Loretta Lynn’s Collegeboy Champion
  • 2023 Maine Event 250 Pro Champion
  • 2025 Canadian Triple Crown Series Top 15 Overall
  • Multiple appearances at Pro National events
  • Over 20 years of motocross riding experience

But for Joe, coaching isn’t about listing trophies. It’s about helping riders improve in ways that actually make a difference when they’re on the bike.

Coaching Built Around The Rider

Every rider is different.

Some riders need help building confidence. Others need to slow things down and clean up bad habits. Some are looking for race-focused coaching and want help becoming smoother, faster, and more consistent.

That’s why Joe keeps training personalized instead of running every rider through the same program.

When riders train with Smokin Joe’s, coaching is adjusted based on:

  • Skill level
  • Riding style
  • Comfort level
  • Goals
  • Experience
  • Strengths and weaknesses

The goal is simple: help riders become more confident, more controlled, and more comfortable on the bike while still keeping riding fun.

Ready To Ride With Smokin Joe’s?

Whether you’re looking to build confidence, improve technique, or become a faster and more consistent rider, Smokin Joe’s Speed & Style MX School is here to help.

A Better Environment For Riders To Learn

A lot of riders, especially beginners, can feel intimidated getting into motocross training. Some worry they’ll slow others down or feel out of place.

Joe works hard to create an environment where riders can ask questions, learn at their own pace, and improve without unnecessary pressure. Riders get honest feedback, direct communication, and coaching that’s meant to help them progress, not tear them down.

Whether someone is riding for fun, trying to become more competitive, or chasing race goals, the focus stays the same:

  • Build confidence
  • Improve technique
  • Ride smarter
  • Stay safe
  • Keep progressing

More Than Just Training

Smokin Joe’s Speed & Style MX School isn’t just about turning laps.

It’s about building a crew of riders who genuinely enjoy the sport and want to keep improving together. From first-time riders to experienced racers, Joe wants training sessions to feel motivating, supportive, and fun while still pushing riders to improve.

The motocross community has always been a huge part of Joe’s life, and coaching gives him the opportunity to give back to the sport that’s given him so much over the years.
