Private Motocross Coaching

Some riders benefit most from more focused, one-on-one coaching.

Private motocross training sessions are built specifically around the rider and what they need help with most. Whether it’s improving corner speed, becoming more comfortable on jumps, fixing body positioning, or preparing for races, private coaching allows Joe to break things down and work directly with the rider throughout the session.

Private sessions are a great fit for:

  • Beginner riders
  • Riders looking for faster progression
  • Race preparation
  • Riders returning from injury
  • Skill-specific training
  • Riders struggling with confidence
  • Parents looking for more individualized coaching for their child

Private coaching is scheduled based on availability and training goals.

Beginner Motocross Training

Everybody starts somewhere.

One of the biggest things beginner riders struggle with is confidence. A lot of newer riders feel intimidated at tracks, overwhelmed by everything there is to learn, or nervous about holding other riders back.

That’s normal.

Smokin Joe’s Speed & Style MX School is built to help beginner riders learn properly from the start in a way that feels comfortable, supportive, and straightforward. The goal is to build strong fundamentals early so riders develop good habits and feel more in control on the bike.

Beginner training commonly focuses on:

  • Basic bike control
  • Body positioning
  • Braking and throttle control
  • Cornering fundamentals
  • Riding safely and confidently
  • Learning proper technique early
  • Track awareness
  • Building comfort on jumps and obstacles

Parents can also feel confident knowing coaching is adjusted to the rider’s age, comfort level, and overall experience.

Intermediate & Advanced Rider Coaching

Once riders start gaining confidence, the next challenge is usually consistency.

A lot of riders plateau because they keep repeating the same habits without understanding what’s holding them back. Sometimes it’s corner speed. Sometimes it’s body positioning, race nerves, line selection, or simply riding too tense.

That’s where more advanced coaching comes in.

Training sessions for intermediate and advanced riders focus on helping riders become smoother, faster, and more efficient on the bike while continuing to ride safely and under control.

Advanced training may focus on:

  • Race preparation
  • Corner speed and technique
  • Line selection
  • Starts
  • Jump timing
  • Bike positioning
  • Maintaining consistency during motos
  • Reading track conditions
  • Rider confidence under pressure

Joe works directly with riders to identify weaknesses, clean up technique, and help them ride smarter overall.

What Riders Work On During Training

Every rider is different, but some of the most common areas worked on during motocross training include:

  • Cornering
  • Body positioning
  • Bike control
  • Throttle control
  • Braking technique
  • Jump confidence
  • Starts
  • Line selection
  • Race consistency
  • Track awareness
  • Overall rider confidence

Sessions are adjusted based on skill level, goals, and riding style.
